DAVIS - Robert L. Jr., 65, Johnstown, died January 20, 2020 at Windber Hospice. Born January 17, 1955 in Parsons, WV, son of Robert, Sr. and Helen (Johnson) Davis. Preceded in death by parents; and a daughter in infancy. Survived by wife Cheryl (Dietz); sons, Chad R. (Christina Niton), and Bradley (Hannah Yoder); granddaughters, Addison and Maddison Davis; brother, Paul (Anita Noble); and canine companions Sammy and Max. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Fraternal Order of Police, American Legion Post 849, NRA, and was president of Gunfighters MC, West Penn Chapter. Bob loved to ride motorcycles and was certified firearms specialist. He retired from D.O.J., Bureau of Prisons. He served as a police officer for various municipalities. He served in the US Navy and retired from the Army National Guard. Friends received 3-7 P.M. Thursday at Henderson Funeral Home-East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., where funeral service will be held Friday at 2 P.M. with Pastor David Streets officiating. NASH - Samuel Earl 69, of Johnstown, went home to be with our Lord December 4, 2016. Born June 23, 1947, son of Samuel and Julia (Young) Nash. Preceded in death by father, brothers James and Melvin and granddaughter Kayona. Survived by mother, wife of 43 years Pamelia (Montgomery) and their children Earl Nash, FL; Andre Nash and Andrea Nash both of Johnstown grandchildren Davin, Andre, Jr., Tirzah and JMir. Brothers and sisters Jerome Nash (Phyllis); Derrick Nash (Lisa); Mark Nash (Kieko) all of Maryland, Dale Nash (Debbie) Kansas; Marilyn Laverne Nash, Debbie Nash and Brian Nash all of Johnstown, goddaughter Jada James, IN. A 1966 graduate of Johnstown HS; he served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from Nov. 1967 until August 1969. He retired from the Reserve Military Police National Guard, also from Bethlehem Steel corp. working in the 11 inch mill and from the Department of Corrections SCI Somerset. He was Past Master of Conemaugh Valley Lodge #10 F. & A.M. PHA, Past Patron of Conemaugh Chapter #55 Order of Eastern Stars. Earl enjoyed time bowling; he was a member of Wednesday night mixed leagues at Richland lanes. Earl has a strong work ethic, he started early in life which made him a great provider for his family. CHARKINS - David R., II, 69, Johnstown, died April 2, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital. Born July 18, 1946, in Johnstown, son of David R. and Ethel (Reininger) Charkins. Preceded in death by parents; and sister, Carol Nemcheck. Survived by his helpmate sent from the Lord, Judith Seese, and long time friends, Chuck and Cindy Ickes and family, all of Johnstown. He was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church. Dave was the fourth generation owner and operator of Cambria Jewelers. He served as a military policeman in the United States Army National Guard. Dave touched many lives, not only through his business, but by volunteering at community activities and events. KINCH - Robert W. Jr, 73, Provost Marshal of Harrisburg passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, in his paradise home of Key West, FL, after a courageous 27-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Tyrone, Pa, he was the son of Edith (Harpster) Waite of Tyrone and the late Robert W. Kinch. Bob graduated from Bellwood-Antis High School and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the PA State Police, retiring in 1994 as a Corporal after a 25 year career. He proudly served his country for 27 years as a member of the Army Reserve and PA National Guard, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. In addition to his mother, Bob is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Ann (Stanalonis) Kinch; his son, Robert W Kinch III and wife, Tabitha, of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Molly, Jackson, Will and Evan; four brothers-in-law, Fred Fink, Greg Stanalonis, Paul Stanalonis and Bernie Stanalonis, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Fink and Judith Adams and his stepfather, F. B. Waite. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Patrick's, Harrisburg. SSG HANLEY – Raymond LaVelle, 77, Johnstown, died Aug. 29, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Johnstown, son of the late George and Marie (Berkey) Hanley. Preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca J. (Harasin) Hanley; daughter, Carrie; granddaughter, Stormy Lynn; and a brother, Leon. He is survived by children, Rick Hanley, and wife, Tracy, Windber, and Gladys Bantley, and husband, George, Johnstown; grandchildren, Erin, Stephen, Dorian and Christina; sister, Zowalla Thiel, Johnstown; and brother, DeWayne Berkey. He was a member of Westmont Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Steelworkers Union 2635 and Boy Scouts of America. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, was an avid outdoorsman, who hunted every season until his death, and especially enjoyed his time at hunting camp the last couple of years. He retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a U.S. Army National Guard veteran, having served with the 28th Military Police Co. 1LT CRAMER – Dale,, died Feb. 16, 2010. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Dolores "Hun" Cramer in 2008. He is survived by his children, Bradley Cramer of Rockwood and partner Vicki Centi of Shanksville, Jayne Bahrenburg and husband Frederick of Glenside, and Troy Cramer of Mt. Oliver; and granddaughter Julianne Bahrenburg. He then served in Co. C of the PA National Guard's 28th Division during the Korean War and also an additional 20 years with the 28th Infantry, Armour, and Military Police. He owned and operated Dale R. Cramer Garage in New Centerville for 50 years. He also served as a deputy sheriff under Sheriff Donald Hay and was a long-time safety engineer with Rockwood Insurance Co. Dale devoted his entire life to the New Centerville Fire Department. He loved antique and classic cars, and enjoyed restoring anything mechanical or automotive. He was a proud veteran who cherished his time in military service. He loved to spit-shine shoes and listen to polka music. Though most of us knew him as SFC, Dale had also been promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant during his service years.
SFC YEAGER – John E., retired full-time administrative supply technician of the 28th MP Co., was promoted to glory on 6 April 2009. John was one of the founding members of the 28th MP Retired Association where he served as secretary for many years. He was also a member of American LegionRichland Post 849. John is interred at Richland Cemetery, Mausoleum D. Survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda L. (Galli); son (also a former 28th MP) David, daughter Jennifer, and four grandchildren.
COL ENDERLEIN – William "Bill" J. JR., served as Provost Marshal of the 28th Infantry Division. Bill was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. During WWII, he served with the 23rd HQ Special Troops, a highly trained secret elite Special Forces unit that is now declassified and known as the "Ghost Army". Bill's awards included a Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge. He was very involved in veteran's activities throughout his 81 years until he passed away on November 22, 2005. Bill is interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Catherine A. (Spack); and children: Barbara, Kimberly, Wm J. III, Lisa, and numerous grandchildren.
SSG HOWARD – "Smokey" Ralph, was much better known to all of us as "Smokey" or "Sarge". He served for 35 years in the Army and National Guard, and retired as our maintenance sergeant. Smokey was a veteran of WWII and Korea. His military awards included 5 Bronze Stars, and additionally, he fought in 5 major battles. He passed away on May 2, 2000 and is interred at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum. Smokey is survived by wife Gladys L. (Harr- Fisher), son Richard, daughter Linda, and stepson Ed (Fisher), plus several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
1LT MIKESIC - Nick, Nicholas Joseph "Nick" Mikesic of Murrells Inlet, SC, and late of Johnstown and Indiana, PA, age 73, died on August 19, 2020. He battled cancer for three years. Nick was born on September 2, 1946, in Johnstown. Nick was a 1964 graduate of Johnstown Central Sr. High School. He also graduated from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA, with an AB in Political Science in 1968, and from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law with a Juris Doctor in 1971. He practiced law and was admitted to practice before the Supreme and Superior Courts of Pennsylvania and the Courts of Common Pleas of Cambria and Indiana Counties, as well as the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals, 3rd Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Nick served in the U.S. Army Reserve as an Infantry Officer and as a First Lieutenant and Platoon Leader in the 28th Military Police Company of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard from 1972 to 1976.
SGT Galli-James Michael, "Jim" - 68, of Nanty Glo, passed away unexpectedly at home Feb. 26, 2021. He was born June 15, 1952 in Johnstown. Jim retired from Blacklick Valley School District's Maintenance Department after 47 years of service. He also retired from the 28th MP Company, with 20 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Nanty Glo, where he served as an usher. Jim enjoyed going to camp "The Pines" and taking all his nieces and nephews down the old dirt road on the back of his truck spotting deer and stopping at Dairy Queen. Interment is in St. Mary's Cemetery.
SGT GUYAN---Ronald J., 82, Conemaugh, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2021. Born November 27, 1938, in Johnstown, son of the late Andrew and Vera (Grove) Guyan. Preceded in death by, first wife, Sharon (Oshensky) Guyan, daughter-in-law, Kathy (Hartley) Guyan and second wife, Donna (Miller) Guyan. He is survived by his children Cynthia "Cindy" and husband John Rimoldi from Mississippi, Randy Guyan from Pittsburgh, Rich and wife Dana Guyan from Pittsburgh, Candace and husband William Oakes from Ohio, Steven and wife, Rosemary Martin from Ohio; and his grandchildren Christopher Guyan and fiancé Julia Martin, Anthony Rimoldi and wife Keeley, Nicholas Guyan and wife Amanda, Brandon Guyan and wife Leigh, Katie Guyan, Matthew Guyan, Cameron Guyan and Travis Williams. He is also survived by his siblings Andrew Guyan and wife Helen, Florida, Raymond Guyan and wife Gloria, Johnstown, Janet Biglin and husband Jim, Duncansville, Deb Harr and husband Rick, Johnstown. Ron was retired from Bethlehem Steel where he worked as a computer programmer, a career that he truly enjoyed. Ron was a US Army National Guard veteran. He retired with the 28th Infantry Division of the Army National Guard where he served in the tank battalion and as a military police officer. He enjoyed coaching Little League baseball and loved watching sports, especially Pittsburgh teams. He was active in the 28th Military Police Retired Association and previously served as treasurer of Summit Chapel United Methodist Church where he was a member. You would always see Ron wearing one of his many baseball caps from his extensive collection. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday July 16, 2021 at Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First St., Conemaugh, and again from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 10 a.m. Saturday July 17, 2021, with Chaplain Emily Hill officiating. SGT CHUPKO - John - went home to be with his Lord on December 15, 2021. Born on May 25, 1937, In Johnstown, son of John and Kathryn (Hovraluck) Chupko. Preceded in death by parents; and infant brother, Nicholas Don Chupko. Survived by the love of his life of 55 years, wife, Carol A. (Pelesky) Chupko, whom he married on May 7, 1966; children, Nicholas D., Connie E. Bodenschatz (Barry), Matthew J. (Monda), Daniel A., Laura D. Gay (Jim) and Lynda C. Chupko-Lockhart; and grandchildren, Abbie, Lauren, Hayden, Jimmy, Matthew, Mackenzie and Logan. Brother of Kathryn M. Oravec, Rosemarie Drazenovich (Jim) and Paul G. (Cathy). John was a 1955 graduate of Johnstown High School, a Marine Corps veteran and a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard. He worked at Bethlehem Steel for 27 ½ years and retired from Ford Motor Company in Ohio after 10 years of service. He loved sharing Jesus Christ, being surrounded by family, and enjoyed singing especially with the Praise Team at church for 40 years, telling witty jokes and eating ice cream. SGM ROZIER - William "Bill" - left us on June 5, 2022. Born on April 24, 1938 in Johnstown, son of the late McGlaughlan Jackson and Eugenia (Tatum) Rozier. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by children, Michael Brent and Cameron Keith Rozier; siblings, Curtis, Donnie, Hazel Greenlow, Gloria King, Julia Chandler, and Ethel James. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, C. Helen “Billie” (Quarles) Rozier; children, William A. Jr., Harrisburg, Hope S. (Kevin) Wiggins, Upper Marlboro, MD, and Stephon C., Johnstown; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Harry Lee Jackson, Atlanta, GA, Mamie Peoples, Philadelphia, and Ruth Rosenfeld, NY, NY, and several nieces and nephews. William was a 1956 graduate of East Conemaugh High School. He was a US Army National Guard Veteran serving from May 1st 1955 until he retired in 1995, serving with the 28th Military Police as the Operations Sargent Major. William retired from USPS in 1995 as the Post Master in Boswell, PA. He began as a city carrier in 1960 and was also the Post Master in Central City. William was a long-time member of Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee and Financial Secretary for many years. He was past Grand Master of Conemaugh Valley Masonic Lodge #10. William was Worthy Patron of Conemaugh Chapter #55, Order of Eastern Star, Price Hall Affiliated. He was Lecture of the 6th District Order of the Eastern Star. William served with the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees as the local President for 21 years and also as the District Chapter of NARFE as Vice President. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch #451 in Johnstown. Also, a member of the United Post Master and Managers Association. William was a member of the 28th Military Police Retired Association. Also, a member of the American Civil Liberties Union; NRA and AARP. He loved reading books, especially history and biographies. Friends will be received at Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, with the Rev. Maurice Williams officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team.
SSG DEBOLT, Robert 'Bob' - Robert C. DeBolt, 75, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Tuesday, Oct 25, 2022. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Clarence and Lillian (Reigh) DeBolt. He married Pamela Boslet in 1969. Surviving are his wife of 53 years; a daughter, Cynthia Roberts, and her husband, Kenneth, of Landenberg; a son, Andrew DeBolt, and his fiancee, Donna Giancarlo, of Chesterbrook; five grandchildren: Brandon, Brooke, Brody, Lillian and Bella; and a brother, Donald, and his wife, Grace. Bob was preceded in death by siblings: Doris, Carl and Richard. Bob graduated from Altoona High School in 1965 and PSU in 1978. He was a Vietnam veteran and retired from the Army National Guard after 20 years service. Robert retired from USPS after 24 years service. He was a member of the Hollidaysburg Consolidated Sportsmen’s Association and the 28th Military Police Retired Association. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, photography, target shooting and ATV riding. He was an avid football and baseball fan. All services are private at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg. Private interment at Grandview Cemetery.
